KUYA DIDZ, Gensan’s newest food destination PDF Print E-mail

Don Tacumba during his culinary days at Gerardo’s with some of his batchmates (from left to right) Elaine Casil of King Jan’s Lechon Manok, Yuyi Gahon (now working in Japan), Rica Fajargo of Iligan City (Faj House of Cakes), Don Tacumba and Edward Tan from Polomolok, South Cotabato. Not shown in the photo is Mrs. Letecia Du of General’s Brew in Gen. Santos City.

He picked up his mobile phone and drove his way to the corporate office. Now, not anymore! Saudi Don Tacumba, owner and managing partner of Kuya Didz Balbacua and Music Bar, has found his world in the kitchen.

Don's grip of the ladle and cooking pans grew from childhood with his father, Candido Tacumba, former educator and school principal, whose love for cooking influenced his son, Don. Being in the academe, his father led him to understanding life’s principles of hard work, discipline and excellence- values that taught Don to search for a character uniquely his own.  Finishing a Business Management course from Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, he discovered his business sense and further plunged himself to his hand-held corporate pens apart from the kitchen tools.

After years of corporate work in sales and marketing, and business operations, he studied Culinary Arts in Gerardo’s School of Culinary Arts in Gen. Santos City.  He passed the TESDA Commercial Cooking NC II assessment.  His passion for cooking continued to spark like no other and his entrepreneurial skills started to lead him on.

A name coined after his father Candido, Kuya Didz comes to life as a food haven of people with gastronomic craving. Originated from Cebu, Kuya Didz’ Special Balbacua de Cebu is a delightful treat to satisfy the discriminating taste of the Generals. Its thick, rich and aromatic flavors all blend for a mouth-watering treat to everyone.  Not only that, Kuya Didz has also a storehouse of other equally delectable dishes, short orders and beer buddies.  With its native veranda, Kuya Didz’ interior play with bamboo and zen touch becomes a welcoming scene for the happy customers.  Farther inside is an air-conditioned room equipped with a dolby sound system facility for those who enjoy privacy and a Bar ambiance.

With Kuya Didz’ newest presence in the market, the Generals have put another food destination to their list that food lovers can take pride of.  Kuya Didz goes beyond the ordinary. “Kuya Didz is not just about food, it is an experience, because Kuya Didz for me is love for cooking made visible,” Don smilingly shares.

“Our customers here will not go home unhappy,” Bench Tacumba, partner and marketing manager of Kuya Didz, quips.  She adds, “Customer care in Kuya Didz is superb. Our prices here are very affordable ranging from P7 to P25 to P65.  The business caters to the cross-section market.  It is perfect for a wage earner or a student who wants to eat without suppressing his budget. It is also a perfect haven for young professionals who want to unwind from a day’s work or just meet up important friends and clients in a good place.  Kuya Didz exists for Gensan…. for the Generals.”

Kuya Didz is located at #36 Camia St, cor, Champaca St, Gen. Santos City - Open on weekdays from 10am to 10pm, friday-saturday till 11pm.
