Marco Polo’s Newest Chefs from Gerardo’s PDF Print E-mail

 

Three new chefs of Marco Polo Hotel Davao are students of Gerardo’s in Gen. Santos City.
Moonyen Perales was the first to be hired last year and was among the scholars of TESDA trained by Gerardo’s in the field of culinary arts. Last December, Marco Polo added two new chefs to their kitchen in the person of Mark Joseph Saplor and Eulogio Lloyd Barrientos  Jr. bringing the number of chefs trained by Gerardo’s to three.


Another top hotel in Davao also hired graduates of Gerardo’s. Grand Regal Hotel located at Lanang, Davao City employed the services of Chef Louie Gramo from Koronadal City. Earlier, Nympha Sumakot was hired to work at Grand Regal’s cold kitchen but the latter resigned from her post due to personal reasons.

One of Davao’s top restaurant, The Dos Amigos, has three chefs all trained from Gerardo’s. Dos Amigo’s Sous Chef, Mark Francis Figuracion, is an experienced cooked who opted to enhance his learning at Gerardo’s mid last year. He then took his On-The-Job training at Marco Polo and later on applied at Dos Amigos as one of the pioneering chefs. Having impressed the American owner with his cooking fundamentals and excellent work habits, Chef Mark was promoted to Sous Chef and is now running the Kitchen of Dos Amigos with two other Gerardo’s graduates. Line chefs Edgar Viniegas and Joshue Homez both from Gen. Santos City.


In the meantime, Chef Jill Jasmin Manaay is one of the top chef in another top Davao restaurant- Restorante Spirale. Chef Jill also worked at Grand Regal Hotel before transferring to Restorante Spirale.


Other restaurants and fast food chains are also employing graduates from Gerardo’s like Bigby’s,  Junji’s Grills and Thrills, Casa Hilonga, among others.
Other students of Gerardo’s who are now working overseas will be featured soon.
